the project goals

We are working hard to realize our plan: the local community will have an empowering space to gather and create, we will have fresh produce in our gardens and a source of income to keep the project going. By transforming the land into a sustainable forest garden, we ensure that biodiversity returns, that temperatures drop and desertification is slowed down. Locals can stay and visitors to Morocco can continue to live this unique experience. With our project, we aim to pursue and demonstrate the importance of living in harmony with nature and with each other.

Our oasis will serve as refuge for nature itself and for the people.

  1. Forest garden. The biggest part of the land will be transformed into a food forest so that we can bring back the oasis life and grow native trees. By planting strong trees, such as palms, acacias, olive trees fig and carob, we think of the generations that will come after us.

  2. Educational exchange. We will build an educational & artistic workshop space for the women and children from the Sahara region. Working together with artists, travelers, volunteers and the local population, we create a community space for creating, sharing and learning. Local women will be empowered in generating their own independent income and we will support them in selling traditional handicrafts.

  3. Guest accommodation. The third goal is project-supporting: we aim to build a small, cosy guest space at the edge of our gardens where we can receive guests on a low scale. We will keep organizing Sahara tours and make sure a stable income will be generated to keep the project running.
