bani hayoune garden non-profit foundation
On October 3rd 2023 we founded the Bani Hayoune Garden non-profit foundation. The non-profit is located in Wageningen, the Netherlands and will carry out its activities for and with Es-Said Et-Talmoudi’s & Linde de Greeff’s Bani Hayoune Garden project in south east Morocco.goal
The goal of the Bani Hayoune Garden foundation is to make the village of Bani Hayoune and its surroundings more livable for the local community, so that people can continue living there. Our purpose is to tackle desertification and bring back trees, plants and insects in a sustainable way to a drying oasis on the edge of the Sahara in Morocco, while at the same time making sure existing trees remain. Through this way the non-profit foundation will contribute to nature conservation in the Sahara desert.
In addition, we want to establish an educational workshop space and artistic workplace for the women and children from the Sahara region. The organisation encourages collaborations between travelers, artists and the local population carefully. We want to support local and nomadic women in generating income. With this project the Bani Hayoune Garden foundation aims to work on the maintenance of the age-old Amazigh Sahara culture.
