In our home and project we are using several recycling systems. We reuse as much as possible. Most old things can be used for something new and in such a place you depent a lot on your own creativity. Here, the only way to get rid of your rubbish is to burn it, which leaves you with 2 choices: have a plastic bonfire or find a new purpose for it. Broken buckets and leftover plastic bottles can be transformed into plant pots or outdoor pillows, and egg cartons become stools. Broken plastic bags function as repair material for broken pipes or electricity cables and broken clothing becomes padding for pillows or cleaning- and teatowels for the kitchen. Eggshells, coffee & donkeypoo is used as fertilizer for the plants and other plastic bottles are always extremely useful to store water.

Plant pots made from old waterbottles
We recycle all our water. We use soapy water from the shower or dishes to flush our toilet, and we collect water without soap or with 100% natural soap in tubs and then give it to the plants afterwards. Apart from the fact that it is necessary in such a dry area, it is also very easy and convenient to be able to reuse water. The next step is to make a charcoal filter that is connected to the drainage of the shower and kitchen, so we can use all our water - even soapy water - directly for the plants.
